Weekly Review

Riding – Last week Bentley and I did one more long training ride before our 50 next week, he will just have a few light rides this week.  On Saturday I did some loops around the grass field by the road.  Being suburbia, we got a lot of attention, slowing down and even stopping traffic as people tried to take our photo.  I think this is why they moved to the “Country.”

Running – It was a take it easy kind of week as I scheduled myself into a 22.4km RNT for Sunday (will post more on this later).  Short version is I successfully completed and couldn’t be happier!

Strength – I had another session with Heather, and we had a good laugh over my strength woes – not that I am sore or tired, but my favorite shirt no longer fits – a cute cap sleeve turned into butchered tank top.  Oops, side effects of getting strong.  I am continuing on my strength program then easing off next week to recover from the 50.

Misc:

Appetite – holy cow am I ever hungry… all the time.  I do have a tendency to eat nonstop throughout the day, but in the last week I am even hungrier.  Once waking up in the middle of the night to dash to the nearest food.  Lee complained of course… perhaps crackers isnt the best food to bring to bed at 3am.  Also, I am experiencing a new kind of hunger, I am both starving and full at the same time.  Not sure what to do!

Saddle – I have been fiddling with my Derby saddle – fine tuning the sheepskin to suit me.  I did ride 30km in it on Saturday (in running shoes with halfchaps) and seemed to be fine other than it was riding up and bunching under my leg.  I found some bungees at the craft store in fun neon colours and have rigged something I hope will work to pull the sheepskin taught under my leg. I am very worried I am going to destroy the cover trying to make it perfect… I wish I was handier!

T-Shirts – Wow I am down to enough inventory to fit in a single grocery bag.  I was hoping to have more to bring to Cayuse this weekend, but instead I will be bringing pre-order forms (well, along with what I currently have).  If you want a shirt, make sure to find me as I will be placing the order next week (delivery at end of May or will hold on until summer solstice rides).  Or you can pre-order online until Tuesday at which point I will be removing the pre-order option.  This will be my LAST order before I leave… I will be just too busy in July to organize more preorders, so make sure if you want something special you let me know NOW!
